Find answers to common questions about HolePlan
HolePlan is dedicated borehole planning and analyzing software compatible with Windows 11 OS and macOS.
Yes. HolePlan offers universal compatibility, meaning it works with data from any survey tool provider. This allows you to switch providers instantly without losing or migrating historical project data.
• Multi-Branch Planning: Design several boreholes from a single "Mother Hole" with advanced section planning patterns.
• Natural Deviation Prediction: Proprietary algorithms to forecast formation drift, allowing for proactive "pre-aiming" borehole initial orientation.
• Real-Time Trajectory Analysis: Compare "Actual" versus "Planned" drilling paths to ensure precise navigation or plot the trajectory towards the target to see the future results fast and easy.
HolePlan utilizes a color-coded safety system to monitor trajectory deviation rates and drill pipe wear. These thresholds are based on manufacturer specifications and over a decade of directional drilling field experience.
• Blue (< 6°/30m or 100ft): Ideal conditions for HW and NW sizes.
• Orange (7° – 12°/30m or 100ft): Safe Zone for NW rods, but there is a risk for HW sizes above DLS 8°/30m or 100ft.
• Red (> 14°/30m or 100ft): Danger Zone; high risk of drill string fatigue or excessive wear.
